Welcome From Rush Chairmen

Congratulations on your acceptance to Texas A&M University, or welcome back for another year. College is a time for learning about yourself, expanding your horizons, and for preparing to enter the real world. At one of the largest schools in the country this experience can be an overwhelming one. As one of the premiere fraternities in the nation, and at A&M, SigEp can help you adjust to college life and set you on the path to both academic and personal excellence. Every fraternity has something positive to offer, but at SigEp we are constantly in search of balanced men who meet our high standards and who can contribute to the growth of our chapter. Here are some things that we believe set SigEp apart from the every other fraternity on campus:

Brotherhood

  • Chapter Home that Sleeps 28 Brothers
  • Annual Ski Trips to Colorado or New Mexico
  • Thursday Night Cookouts
  • Tubing graduation trip on the Guadalupe River
  • Paintball, concert, casino, and other brotherhood events
  • Annual Spring Break trip to Port Arthur
  • Monthly hunting trips around Texas and Louisiana
  • Lone Star Park horse racing events
  • Texas Rangers and Houston Astros baseball games
  • Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets basketball games
  • Alumni Golf Tournament and Parents Weekend

Academics

  • Top-3 in GPA in chapters over 50 members at Texas A&M for 4 years
  • Highest GPA ever by a fraternity at A&M in the Spring of 2001
  • Annually award a $2,000 Balanced Man Scholarship to top incoming freshmen

Awards

  • 2009 Greek Man of the Year - Austin Lee
  • Won the 2001 and 2003 Buchanan Cup for Chapter Excellence, the highest honor a SigEp chapter can receive
  • Won the 2001 "Best Greek Organization" award given out by the university
  • "Best Chapter Home" in our Region at 2003 and 2005 Carlson Leadership Academy
  • Chapter recepient of the Zollinger Senior Award, given to the top Senior brother in the region in 2005 - Bobby Morgan
  • Chapter recepient of the Zollinger Scholar Award, given to the top Sophomore brother in the region in 2005 - Greg Schonefeld

Philanthropy

  • Adopt-A-Street (George Bush East between Dominick and Holleman)
  • Pebble Creek Carnival
  • Top participant in The Big Event in 2004 and 2005

Intramurals

  • Greek League and/or All-University champions in Indoor Soccer (Divisions A and B) in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007
  • All-University Softball Champions (A Division) in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005.
  • All-University competitors in Football and Basketball

For all of you incoming freshman, I hope that you will take this opportunity to apply for our Balanced Man Scholarships. These scholarships do not require you to join Sigma Phi Epsilon; they are simply our way of recognizing men who live up to the ideal of the Balanced Man. SigEp holds recruitment events during the summer, and at the beginning of the Spring and Fall semesters, so please contact me or one of the Rush Captains for more information. You may also learn about us from the IFC website (http://ifc.tamu.edu), at the New Student Conferences in the summer, and at MSC Open House in the fall. Thank you for your interest in SigEp and we look forward to seeing you in the fall.
